Who needs it?
Sensorimotor exams specifically assess the binocular vision system. This is good for patients with:
- Headaches
- Double vision
- Eyestrain/fatigue
- Difficulty with school/reading/near work
- History of concussion or other mild-moderate TBI
- Poor hand-eye coordination
- Motion sickness
- Difficulty focusing/paying attention
- Eye turns (strabismus)
How long does it take?
This exam is designed to take approximately two hours.
What does it include?
A sensorimotor exam includes a battery of tests designed to assess:
- Ocular alignment
- Range of motion of eye muscles/coordination of eye muscles
- Ability to follow or track an object (oculomotor ability)
- Ability to look near, far, and then alternate between (converge, diverge, and vergence facility)
- Ability to accurately focus on a target (accommodation)
- Ability to alternate focus from distance to near (accommodative facility)
- Ability to accurately copy an image (visual motor integration)
How much does it cost?
These exams cost $200 – payable by cash, check, or card. If you have medical insurance and would like to submit a claim, be sure to ask for a superbill at the end of your exam!
